STEP 3

Collaborated with skilled artisans for diverse fabric dyeing techniques, shared samples from unique mark-making, Discussed inspirations, and iteratively refined prints for production. Aligning with the project’s core concept emphasizing on handmade uniqueness, serendipity, and material culture.

STEP 4

I responded to the artisan’s work, my mark-making, and fabric manipulations, digitally layering them to generate prints. The layering of multiple visuals generated in the previous steps provided depth and serendipity of the handmade. Merged creativity with production efficiency of digital printing for a versatile design process.

STEP 5

Adding texture adds to the artisan’s work and digital prints by adding layers through fabric manipulations and embroidery.

The tactility and time added to handcrafting the manipulations add value and leave an impact on the wearer. The added textures mimic the same natural uneven textures in Step 1 to provide a feeling to the wearer of being in nature.

STEP 6

In stage 6, the created textiles are developed in Clo3D for garment design and development, preserving the tactile and authentic feel of handmade work even in the virtual realm. This introduces a novel platform for showcasing artisans’ work, typically overlooked in the virtual world.
